Renier's education and early career include obtaining his B.Iuris degree from the University of Free State in 1992. He embarked on his legal career in December 1992 by joining the Department of Justice. Over the course of a remarkable 10-year tenure, Renier ascended through the ranks, serving as a District Court Prosecutor, Regional Court Prosecutor, Additional Magistrate, Senior Magistrate, and Acting Regional Court Magistrate.

Noteworthy achievements in his career include gaining national recognition for his resolute stance on traffic violations while stationed in Estcourt, KZN, during his time as a Magistrate. In 2000, Renier further enhanced his legal qualifications by obtaining his LLB degree through part-time studies at UNISA. In 2002, he joined the esteemed law firm Tomlinson Mnguni James in Pietermaritzburg. In 2003, Renier successfully passed the admission exam and was admitted as an Attorney, specializing in Commercial Law, Criminal Law, and Family Law.

Renier's career took a corporate turn in 2005 when he became a Legal Advisor and General Manager at Lombard Tyres CC. In 2011, he was appointed as the CEO of Lombard Tyres (Pty) Ltd after a company restructuring. In August 2014, Renier reached new heights, being appointed to the Board of Directors as Managing Director.

Renier's entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish Renier Botha Attorneys in Krugersdorp in October 2016. He briefly ventured into partnership, leading to the firm's name change to BVB Attorneys in January 2018. By August 2018, Renier returned to his role as a single practitioner at Renier Botha Attorneys.
